Bag drainer FTX immediately became one of the largest holders of the second largest cryptocurrency. On November 20, the wallet moved 50,000 ETH tokens to a new address. The hacker exchanged the stolen tokens for Ren Bitcoin (renBTC), a form of Bitcoin backed by the Ethereum blockchain. Apparently, the renBTC token is affiliated with Alameda Research, a brokerage firm that is closely related to the FTX Group.
According to the security-focused blockchain analytics platform CertiK, the hacker who broke the crypto didn’t get anything wrong from multiple intermediary addresses, which is a transaction process known as “chain cutting.” ETH is currently trading at $1,114 after falling 8.9% in the last 24 hours.
