Sony Block Solutions Labs (Sony BSL) launched its Singapore-based subsidiary in 2023 to make its blockchain system, Soneium, available to the public for the first time. Soneium Conquest is a four-week campaign designed to bring creators, developers, and blockchain aficionados alike in to explore the possibilities of Web3 technology.

Soneium Conquest is a series of learning modules, interactive challenges and immersive experiences hosted on the Galxe platform. The campaign will focus on four key themes: creativity, connection, joy, and immersion. Within a month-long event, participants will learn how Soneium enables decentralized creativity, empowers the community to support each other while playing blockchain games.

Exploring the Future of Blockchain Gaming with Soneium

During the first week of the campaign, we will show how Soneium lets creators pursue their visions through blockchain experiences. The second week will focus on how the platform encourages communication and collaboration among its ever-growing community.

The last two weeks will take a deep dive into one of the hottest sectors in gaming: blockchain, and consider how Soneium amplifies user engagement and spurs innovation in an entertainment space. Soneium’s mainnet, launched on January 14, 2025, seeks to simplify blockchain interactions and bring a tidier and more user-friendly Weba3 experience.

Soneium is an Ethereum Layer 2 platform built on the OP Stack from the Optimism Foundation in a way that supports creators, developers, and fans. On top, it combines Sony’s Fan Marketing platform, deploying NFTs to provide artists with exclusive content and more in-depth engagement.

Concerns Over Soneium’s “Blacklisting” Policy and Potential Financial Losses

Sony Launches Soneium Conquest Campaign to Promote Blockchain Innovation

Some see the controversy as a possible opportunity for lauding the mainnet launch’s innovative approach. Soneium’s ‘blacklist’ of contract addresses has also been a concern for many users who fear that by black listing certain contract addresses, Soneium is ‘froze’ the contract and potentially result in loss of funds. According to a user on X (formerly Twitter), the alleged losses could be as much as $100,000 in Ether (ETH). It was reportedly related to Soneium’s IP infringement policy.

Soneium responded by saying it excluded only two contracts because of IP issues. No funds were frozen, the company said, and the blacklist only applied to public RPC (Remote procedure call) interactions with the flagged contracts. It also pledged that users have the right to appeal these decisions and that communication on the matter is ongoing.

With the arrival of Soneium’s Conquest campaign and mainnet launch, Soneium is now ready to change the rules of the digital game and enable creators and a more open, inclusive internet.

Conclusion

The combination of Soneium’s progression in Conquest and its ability to handle user needs is what makes Soneium’s platform stand out in terms of its unique blockchain and Web3 principles. Through its emphasis on user interaction and creative collaboration Soneium aims to change how we experience digital spaces.
