Charles Hoskinson has come out to defend the use of AI-generated content and outlined his vision for using autonomous Agents across the Cardano ecosystem.
The controversy started with a backlash against an AI-generated post published through Input Output’s X account. Some community members spoke up about the use of synthetic media, prompting Hoskinson to explain the Cardano AI push and how this new tech fits into Cardano’s future as well as the role of its privacy-focused Midnight Network.
Hoskinson went on to explain in a June 20 post titled “AI Slop, IOG X & the Future of Marketing” that this content was the result of experimental work connected to Midnight City and was shared to give people a sneak peek of what’s possible, rather than to replace human contributors.
He made it clear that his end goal goes way beyond just that. He says AI agents can really help with communication, community engagement and overall ecosystem growth as blockchain networks scale to millions of users.
Midnight City At the Heart of Cardano AI Push
Midnight City is an interactive simulation built around the Midnight Network which is one of the most closely watched projects on Cardano’s roadmap.
In the platform, there are autonomous AI agents that can work, trade and generate economic activity. Users can observe all of this from different angles including public, auditor, regulatory views.
Beyond simulation, Midnight City also serves as a testing ground for different new privacy technologies. Midnight itself uses zero-knowledge cryptography and selective disclosure tools that let users protect sensitive info without ignoring compliance requirements.
This is the balance that Cardano is trying to strike with Midnight: supporting privacy focused blockchain applications without sacrificing regulatory compliance requirements.

Hoskinson Says AI Agents Will Be Needed at Scale
According to Hoskinson, relying solely on human teams is going to get harder if Cardano and Midnight really attract millions of users.
Talking about Midnight City, he said:
“We’re going to need agents and AI to be able to organize and sort all that out and broadcast on a regular basis what’s going on in Midnight City.”
During Consensus 2026, he also argued that AI agents will play a growing role in internet activity, commerce, research, and digital interactions over the next decade.
Under the Cardano AI push, systems like these could really help out with community management, content distribution, affiliate programs, media updates and ecosystem reporting.
Hoskinson also mentioned OpenClaw, an open-source AI agent platform that could potentially help out with future automation efforts within the network.
Midnight Network Continues Expanding After Mainnet Launch
Midnight network launched its federated Kukolu mainnet on March 31 2026. It introduced a new privacy framework built around programmable disclosure and zero-knowledge tech. The launch also set up a production environment with permanent state continuity and a federated validator structure.
Midnight itself uses a dual-token model built around NIGHT and DUST.
NIGHT serves as the network’s governance and utility token, while DUST acts as a vital resource for transactions and smart-contract execution. This design neatly separates governance from operational costs. This approach is expected to lead to more predictable expenses for both users and developers.
As development progresses, Midnight is expected to become a major component of Cardano’s effort to attract privacy-focused applications and enterprise users.
ADA Price Pressure Keeps Attention on Ecosystem Growth
The Cardano AI push is pressing on, but so far market conditions are being challenging.
Just recently, ADA plummeted to a five year low of $0.20, then proceeded to dip down to $0.16, which is almost a 2% drop over the last 24 hours.

The weakness has increased focus on whether Midnight can attract new developers, users, and applications capable of expanding activity across the Cardano ecosystem.
Hoskinson appears convinced that AI will be of use in that effort.
He says the team plans to keep testing those AI standards as Midnight City continues to evolve. He also talked about the potential of agentic trading systems and affiliate relationships as a way to help drive user growth.
Conclusion
Cardano AI push seems to be moving onto real-world testing. Through Midnight City, Cardano is testing how autonomous agents can participate in digital economies, support community operations and showcase privacy technologies in real-world environments.
Although there are some users who are a bit skeptical about the AI-generated media, Hoskinson says Cardano is clearly committed to exploring this further as Midnight expands.
With ADA under market pressure and Midnight still in its early stages, the success of these initiatives could influence the network’s next phase of growth.
