Curve's StableSwap is now live on Stellar mainnet.

Curve Finance is now running on Stellar mainnet. On October 29, 2026, Curve Finance and the Stellar Development Foundation announced the launch. The Block reported that it is Curve’s first native deployment outside the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) ecosystem. According to that reporting, the Curve Finance Stellar launch is the protocol’s first native step onto a chain that does not run the EVM.

  • Curve’s StableSwap is live on Stellar mainnet as of October 29, 2026, with permissionless pool creation, swaps and liquidity provision.
  • Founder Michael Egorov says the demand for Curve on Stellar “comes from institutions.”
  • FXSwap, Curve’s design for pairs of stablecoins pegged to different currencies, is planned for Stellar once its audit is complete. No date has been set.
  • No trading volume or on-chain activity figures for the new Stellar pools have been disclosed so far.
  • Crypto Briefing puts Stellar’s stablecoin market at about $394 million, most of it USDC.

How the Curve Finance Stellar expansion unfolded

  1. Around December 11, 2025: Curve introduces FXSwap, an automated market maker (AMM) design for FX and low-volatility pairs. Its first Ethereum pool paired ZCHF with crvUSD, according to FinanceFeeds.
  2. May 21, 2026: Polygon Labs, Frax, Curve Finance and DFB launch FX pools on Polygon, pairing frxUSD against BRZ, IDRX, tGBP, AUDF, KRWQ and USDT.
  3. May and June 2026: Curve governance approves an upgraded FXSwap pool implementation (Vote 1408) that reduces value lost to arbitrage during rebalances. YieldBasis V3 is among the first protocols to use it in production.
  4. September 17, 2026: Curve goes live on Arc, a network built for stablecoins. It says it already runs more than 20 active FX pools across 10 currency corridors on five other networks.
  5. October 29, 2026: StableSwap launches on Stellar mainnet.

Why Curve is stepping outside the EVM

StableSwap is the first Curve product to reach Stellar. It’s tuned for assets whose prices should move together, such as stablecoins tied to the same currency, wrapped bitcoin tokens and synthetic crypto assets. On Stellar, users can create pools without permission, browse existing pools, swap assets and provide liquidity.

The rollout comes in stages. StableSwap is live now. FXSwap will follow only after its audit is complete, and no activation date has been announced. FXSwap already has a track record elsewhere. Curve said in September that it ran more than 20 active FX pools on five other networks, and the Polygon pools launched in May. If the audit clears, Stellar would become another venue for that product.

The available reporting does not explain how Curve adapted its contracts for a non-EVM chain. How the Stellar deployment differs technically from Curve’s EVM versions remains unclear for now.

What Egorov and the reporting outlets say

According to The Block, Egorov said the team began looking at chains beyond EVM “if there is demand.” He described Stellar as “closer to the familiar EVM world than many other chains.” He also said the demand for Curve there “comes from institutions.” The reporting available so far does not identify those institutions.

Crypto Briefing reported that Curve plans to add FXSwap to Stellar once its audit is complete, with no activation date announced. It also noted that no on-chain activity or trading volume figures have been disclosed for the new pools. The outlet puts Stellar’s stablecoin market at roughly $394 million and says most of it is USDC.

Then there’s the size question. TechFlow reported that Curve’s total value locked stood at $1.27 billion at the time of the Stellar deployment. That figure comes from a secondary outlet and has not been independently checked, so it should be read with caution. TechFlow framed FXSwap as aimed at on-chain foreign exchange. That fits with Curve’s Arc launch announcement in September, where the protocol pointed to its existing FX pools across 10 currency corridors.

Outlook for Curve Finance Stellar pools

The launch lands in a soft market. Data from CoinGecko on October 29, 2026 at 12:13 UTC showed the largest assets slipping over the past day.

AssetPrice (USD)24h change30d change
Bitcoin (BTC)$80,021-1.16%-4.67%
Ethereum (ETH)$2,320.09-1.11%-14.4%
Solana (SOL)$100.11-1.87%-15.99%

The Crypto Fear & Greed Index read 51, or “Neutral,” on October 29. Bitcoin fell less than 5% over 30 days. Ether and Solana each dropped between 14% and 16% over the same period. Nothing in the market data indicates how the new Stellar pools will perform.

The FXSwap audit is the obvious item to track, along with any activation date that follows it. The first volume and liquidity numbers for the Stellar pools will matter too, since none have been published yet. It will also be worth seeing whether the institutions Egorov referred to become publicly visible as users or liquidity providers.

The risks are concrete. New code on a new chain carries smart contract risk, and audits reduce that risk but don’t remove it. Liquidity providers can lose money if a stablecoin loses its peg, and FX pairs add currency risk on top. Stablecoin regulation also differs by country and keeps changing.
